Ouray Democratic Party leaders have joined the effort to remove

Sheriff Lance FitzGerald from office, following the lead of GOP leadership which voted last week to pursue a recall election.

“Sheriff FitzGerald has exhibited behavior that disrespects both the office and the citizens of Ouray County as well as the Colorado Law Enforcement Code of Ethics,” the Democrats’ resolution read. “His conduct has been irresponsible and he has lost the trust of the community.”
