Dear Editor: Although disturbing and sad, I was keenly interested in the anti-immigrant history lesson shared by columnist Carolyn Snowbarger in the April 10 edition. (“The forgotten – and shameful – history of Silverton.") With the Trump administration threatening educational institutions for free thinking, demanding the removal of books related to diversity, race and gender from schools, and erasing the achievements of minority groups from federal websites, it’s more important than ever to be mindful of our shared history.
