Dear Editor: Why would a county commissioner need legal representation? As elected officials, county commissioners are afforded consid- erable protection from liability by the Colorado Governmental Immunity Act, provided they do not engage in “willful and wanton misconduct.” This means commissioners are free to make bad decisions that could negatively impact their constituents without ever being held personally responsible.
