Dear Editor: I have been involved in the wild horse and burro issue for over 40 years. The best researched facts I have found are Craig Downer’s 2012 book, "The Wild Horse Conspiracy," and James Kleinert’s 2010 film documentary, "Wild Horses and Renegades." According to Downer and Kleinert, in 1900, our country had over 2 million healthy wild horses and burros. In 1971, Congress passed the Wild Horses and Burros Act, with the most letters of support to date.
