Dear Editor: I’m sorry to hear that someone’s campaign signs have gone missing. When the norms of civil society have degenerated to the point that a losing candidate would attempt to overthrow our very republic and the will of the people with violence, one might reasonably expect other subsequent breakdowns in law and order to occur. Competence, patriotism and the rule of law are foundational issues in the current election, and the competent thing to do would be to bring one’s campaign signs in at night. I bring my signs in at night, because I’d be damned if I'll trust the minions of a would-be king to leave them alone.
