Dear Editor:
Every year about this time many of Ridgway’s residents are kept awake all night listening to the distressing lowing of cattle. For whatever reason this happens so close to town, it is clear that the animals are very unhappy and pretty clear that their calls of distress also create a lot of distress among the people living within hearing distance.
Why does this happen so close to town? Is this happening on private ranch land, or is it happening on public land? Is it possible to move the operation away from the dense population of town? This is a quality of life issue. No one in Ridgway should have to listen to animals being treated this way.
