September 12, 1974 – Mrs. L. F. Kuchs wrote a letter to the editor, reminiscing that 40 years ago in September, eight ladies formed a club called M.M. (Modern Matrons). Three members had passed away since, and three moved away. This left two members in Ouray. The club met on Sept. 5, when it was decided by newer members to discontinue. It was a happy 40 years, and it was with regret that it had come to an end.
