City to boost support for police
Councilors discuss audit report with department
The Ouray Police Department will hire more office staff and increase the housing stipend for current employees from $500 to $1,000 per month, and the city will examine compensation and benefits for officers compared to other agencies.
The city attorney will also draft an official body camera policy and an agreement with the neighboring Ouray County Sheriff’s Office to use its private interview room for investigations.
