July 25, 1974 – James McGuire, Ouray City Police deputy, received a call from his dispatcher around 10:30 Monday night, that someone had reported two men climbing on the roof of the Beaumont Hotel on Main Street in Ouray. Upon investigating, McGuire discovered the two men climbing down the construction scaffolding behind the building. He apprehended Williams Harvey, 19, of Ouray, and radioed Police Chief Keith Kelley and the Ouray Sheriff’s Department for assistance. The other man, Steve Honstein, 22, of Ouray, was apprehended by Chief Kelly, Sheriff Art Dougherty and McGuire a few minutes later on Main Street. The men had apparently broken into the building through a skylight.
