OURAY COUNTY
LOOKING BACK
July 4, 1974 – Action by the Ridgway Volunteer Fire Department, assisted by the Ouray County Sheriff’s Department and other volunteers, prevented a fire on a ranch on Log Hill from turning into a potentially dangerous forest fire last Thursday. Mrs. Bill Moon had been burning trash in the yard of her ranch on Log Hill approximately 3 miles southwest of Colona when wind caught the blaze and spread it across into some bales of hay.
