Dear Editor: Thank you, Ouray County commissioners, for a fair policy regarding flags displayed at the 4-H Event Center as you support diversity of beliefs. Currently the most divisive flag for many is our own beloved United States flag. The quote in the recent Plaindealer says, "The county shouldn't display a flag used by an 'activist group' that only causes political division." This speaks to how our flag is used today to represent how people feel politically. We are divided in this nation and our very special, precious symbol, the U.S. flag, is used all the time to show our opinions. We are all activists for our beliefs.
