May 16, 1974 - It was all over in less than two minutes. Approximately 50 people attended Wednesday night’s special meeting called by the Ouray School Board, with the expectation of hearing the board’s findings on recent investigations into the ability and behavior of Superintendent Daniel Kerr. Board President Rick River informed the group that the meeting had been called to order in executive session prior to the open meeting, and read a brief statement: “Due to possible problems the board cannot make any statement until legal counsel has been obtained. We will call another special meeting at the earliest possible date after such counsel is obtained.” Kerr had arrived at the meeting accompanied by his own legal counsel, attorney Gerald D. Weaver of Montrose. The board was unaware prior to Wednesday night that Kerr would have an attorney with him.
