Dear Editor: The entire community owes its gratitude to Jessica Tice for her courage in going public with complaints previously included in her resignation as evidence technician for the Ouray Police Department. That she felt she must resign because proper procedures were not being followed and unacceptable commentary was being tolerated in the workplace is bad enough. That it took her further action, getting the information to us all through the newspaper, to trigger an internal investigation by the city is truly regrettable. Official caution over legal risk is understandable, but the alleged ‘Only Fans’ comment is textbook sexual harassment, enough as an isolated incident to take action. Ask Chief Wood yourself, the next time you see him walking down the street, what is the only evidence he believes can prove rape.
