April 25, 1974 - The Ouray School Board and Superintendent Dan Kerr came under siege before an intense but well-behaved audience of over 115 persons, at the regular board meeting Monday night. It was a sort of three-pronged attack, in which participants included parents, students, teachers and ‘just taxpayers’ of School District R-1. Among the items brought up and discussed at length were teacher contracts, the lack thereof and a lengthy presentation relating to complaints about the superintendent. As the crowd assembled, the board was in executive session, so the meeting opened about a half hour late. It continued until midnight, except for a break for another extensive session.
