Dear Editor: I feel fortunate to have a true news hound, who will not be intimidated, reporting for our local newspaper. Securing public records through open records requests is key to understanding what goes on when we are not looking. Publishing those discoveries is part of good journalism no matter how uncomfortable they may be. Not coloring those discoveries with misleading statements or embellishing them beyond face value is also wise reporting. Long ago a wise man shared with me his mantra on doing business which is “get the facts or the facts will get you." It’s always served me well.
