County sees more deaths in 2023

The Ouray County Coroner’s Office investigated more deaths in 2023 than it has in the past 10 years, and it is working to identify a body found in the county in 1987.

County Coroner Glenn Boyd told Ouray County commissioners at their meeting on Tuesday that he attributes the increase in investigated deaths to an aging population and more people visiting the county to recreate.
