Dear Editor: Even if it has been a bit of a rough patch lately for the Plaindealer, one hopes the editors are not suggesting this as an excuse for being lackadaisical, or even selective, in their obligation to factcheck the letters they publish. At the risk of being accused of piling on, one glaring piece of misinformation appearing in last week’s edition should have been flashing red on the fact-check meter, especially so given the hotness of the topic. The third paragraph of the letter from Men Ending Rape Culture (“MEND”) concludes by stating “Over 99% of rapists serve no time.” Huh?
