Dear Editor: We spent 25 fine years on Miller Mesa next door to the Faust holding before decamping to Montrose three years ago to age in place; we read with dismay the Plaindealer coverage of the desecration of the stretch of County Road 5 that we had hiked, biked and skied throughout that time, and salute Eric and Helen's efforts ultimately resulting in their success in forcing the county to act. Our hats are off to them. I will note that this article demonstrates the importance of local journalism, and this article is to me an example of investigative journalism at its best. This exercise in entitlement has only been temporarily halted, however, and it is critical that current Ouray County residents/voters bring pressure to bear on the commissioners to assure that current and future developments adhere to land use and other legal constraints. Please make your voices heard for the sake of the current and future generations!
