July 19, 1973 - Members of the Chipeta Girl Scout Council have a new camping home. Located five miles south of Ridgway, the campsite is the Council’s first established camp since the main building of the Kannah Creek camp was destroyed by fire in 1968. Top of the Pines is in its second summer of operation and two sessions are being offered. Two division or units are in operation now and more are planned for the near future. One unit is for girls from third to sixth grade and the other for junior high school aged girls. Girls attend camp at the same time.
