Ridgway proceeds with lodging tax hike question
The Town of Ridgway will draft a ballot question to ask voters to raise lodging taxes to 6% and dedicate 50% of its lodging tax revenue to affordable housing.
The move is the latest in a debate over how to best use the funds generated through taxes collected on lodging, paid by visitors, and how to fund affordable housing projects. Currently, the Ridgway Area Chamber of Commerce receives the lodging tax funds through an agreement with the town to promote tourism.
