Deputies deserve more pay than IT
Dear Editor:
Ouray County is advertising for positions, including deputy sheriff with a requirement to already be POST certified (i.e. qualified law enforcement) and an IT technician. Interesting that the IT job, requiring only two years experience in an office setting, pays more ($30.06 per hour) than the deputy job ($28.19-$30.65). Would it not seem that a dangerous job that requires continual potentially dangerous interactions with a broad range of people and incidents, as well as physical act...
