Ouray County is firing a local consultant who was contracted to work with stakeholders to develop a regional conservation and outdoor recreation plan.

Citing concerns including inaccurate billing, fraud, difficulty obtaining work and lack of accountability tracking the grant used to fund the Ouray Regional & Recreational Conservation Alliance project, commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to end the county’s contract with Crux Environmental and Nick Walendziak.
