Without firefighters, blaze could have been much worse
Dear Editor:
On Nov. 9 I came home about 3:15 p.m. and noticed smoke and fire out through the pasture and by the river. I immediately called 911.
Within 15 minutes the Ridgway Fire Department was here with fire trucks and a crew. They worked for several hours and left. The fire had flared up, so I called them back out and they were here right away.
After that, there was someone constantly watching the burn area until 6:30 p.m. on the 10th.
