Ouray County will move to a new emergency alert system next month, and is asking all residents to sign up to ensure they receive the notifications.

The county has used CodeRED to send alerts, often referred to as “reverse 911” messages, since 2014, but will move in December to a new system, Genasys. The program will be called Ouray County Alerts, and will be used to make calls and send messages to cell phones and landlines, and through an application.
