Ouray adds teeth to snow removal rules
Ouray city councilors agreed Monday to put their boots down when it comes to shoveling snow, toughening up rules that require residents and business owners to quickly clear sidewalks or face a fine.
The council unanimously approved on first reading an ordinance mandating property owners shovel the sidewalks in front of their properties within 24 hours after a storm ends. The time limit increases to 48 hours if more than 12 inches of snow falls.
