Dear Editor: May I first compliment you on your thorough reporting on the recent issues presenting themselves in our district!

I read with interest, and disappointment, the reaction of some our local businesses toward having gift shops in our visitors centers — because they were afraid it would take away from their own businesses. It’s too bad when some folks show such animosity toward something that is absolutely geared to help our visitors … and Ouray is a tourist town, for sure.
