In a unanimous vote, Gunnison City Council appointed city Finance Director Ben Cowan to serve as interim city manager during a regular meeting Sept. 27. Russ Forrest, the current city manager, announced his resignation late last month — leaving to take over as Vail’s new town manager. HIs last day in the office is scheduled for Oct. 30.
