Dear Editor: As the former Ouray County treasurer, and current Ridgway property owner, I was shocked to see your recent headline, ‘Fire district to ask voters to double property tax.’ That is not true, one district would not cause doubled property tax because there are several districts that make up for the total mill levy of tax calculation. The Ridgway Fire Protection District asking to increase their mill levy is one small part of a property tax bill.
