August 17, 1972 – A Moab, Utah man was fined $250 in U.S. Magistrate Court in Montrose on Aug. 10 for unauthorized road construction within the Uncompahgre National Forest of Colorado. David T. Baker pleaded innocent to charges by the U.S. Forest Service that he constructed, without written authorization, over 4 miles of new road and reconstructed over 1 mile of old road in 1969 for mineral prospecting.
