July 27, 1972 – Any significant increase in snowpack in the San Juan Mountains by cloud seeding will retard growth of some non-woody plants and could cause starvation among small animals. These points were made recently by two Fort Lewis College scientists who are studying the effects of snowfall on the plant life and animal life at elevations between 9,000 and 11,000 feet in southwestern Colorado.
