Spending in Ouray in May slipped for the second consecutive month compared with the same month last year, though it far exceeded pre-pandemic spending in May 2019.

Sales tax receipts from May purchases totaled $190,776, a 3.5% drop from May 2021. That revenue is remitted to the city in June and reported in July.

Through the first five months, the city has collected more than $778,000 in sales taxes, 3% more than the same period last year.
