Grants aim to boost pool staffing

Public pools could get a boost in labor force with a new state grant meant to help pools stay open and staffed.

The Pools Special Initiative, announced Tuesday by Gov. Jared Polis, allows swimming pools to apply for funding to increase incentives for new lifeguard training and employment. Citing a statewide shortage of lifeguards, the governor said communities will be able to apply for up to $25,000 in grants through the Colorado Department of Local Affairs and the Office of Economic Development ...
