Kenneth Guy McKenzie, born July 24, 1927, passed away at his home in Ouray, Colorado, on January 12, 2022 at the age of 94 years. Ken was proceeded in death by his wife Claire Davis McKenzie, his father Guy William McKenzie and his mother Olive Crystal McKenzie, his sisters and brothers Maxine McCurdy, Betty McKenzie, Earl McKenzie, Robert McKenzie and his stepson Scott Kevin McKenzie. Ken is survived by his sons Kenneth Gary McKenzie, Robert Guy McKenzie, his daughter Linda Lou McClintock; his stepdaughters Candace Walls and Robin Husmann, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ken was born in Ohio and spent his childhood in Lewis Center and Columbus; he also served in the Army Air Corps during WWII as a radio operator. He moved to California where he worked for the Reagan Ranch and got to know many of the old movie and TV “Cowboys”: Joel McCrea, Roy Rogers etc. He then worked at Pt Mugu setting up missile bases and also served as a Deputy Sheriff in Thousand Oaks. He was very active in the Thousand Oaks Masonic Lodge and was on the Bethel council of Jobs Daughters in Thousand Oaks. Moving to Colorado, he and Scott had a hunting lodge. Ken also served as Worshipful Master and Secretary of the Ouray Masonic Lodge. He absolutely loved telling his life stories and having coffee with the Curmudgeons.
Services honoring Ken McKenzie and Scott McKenzie will be held at the Ouray Masonic Lodge on June 25th at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make donations to The Ouray Masonic Lodge #37
