May 25, 1972 – Hopes to have the new Amphitheater Campground water system in operation by Memorial Day faded this week when pipe and other supplies ordered failed to arrive, reported Walter Rule, Ouray District ranger. Because of this and the lack of daily fee tickets, signs, etc., initiation of the fee system and collection will not begin until later in June.
