A movement continues to build in town to classify Silverton as a “Dark Sky Community.” Dark Sky sites signify that an area has either reduced or no light pollution from artificial lights, either naturally or because communities make a collective effort to reduce light pollution. Silverton resident Cole Davenport believes that if we do not choose to preserve our night sky now, we will lose it.
