Ridgway and Ouray School Districts plan to make masks optional starting March 7. 

The change is in line with new guidance the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released last week, which says masking in schools isn’t necessary if COVID cases in a community are low to moderate.

Ouray County’s cases are currently low, according to the CDC’s community level tracker. Ouray County Public Health has reported just one new case in the last 10 days.
