Avalanche mitigation will delay motorists on Red Mountain Pass
Motorists trying to get over Red Mountain Pass this morning should expect lengthy delays as the Colorado Department of Transportation performs avalanche mitigation work.
Crews will begin triggering several slide paths on the north side of the pass at 8 a.m, CDOT announced at 7 a.m. Travelers should expect delays of an hour or more and allow for extra travel time between Silverton and Ouray. The operations will occur through much of the morning.
