Ouray County is facing an allegation of age discrimination in selecting its new county attorney from an unsuccessful applicant seven years older than the attorney commissioners hired.

In a charge filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the applicant said despite meeting or exceeding the county’s minimum qualifications for the position, the county hired a younger, less-experienced attorney.
