In January of 2020, John Warren of Ouray, owner of Red Mountain Brewery, appeared before Ouray County Court Judge Zachary Martin on a rape charge. According to that charge, in December of 2018 Warren raped a woman who did not give consent, feared violence if she did not submit, and was physically disabled by alcohol and sleeping pills.

Because the Ouray police did not arrest Warren until nine months after the incident, the case did not reach Judge Martin until the following January. A...
