Two law enforcement officers were assaulted on Thanksgiving by a transient who is accused of refusing to leave private property.

Shaine Herrin, 31, was arrested after he attacked and injured Ouray County Sheriff’s Deputy Luis Perez and Ridgway Marshal Shane Schmalz last week, according to the affidavit for his arrest. He now faces charges of second-degree assault on a peace officer, resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer, criminal mischief and third-degree criminal trespassing.
