Two years ago a group of three candidates were elected as mayor and councilors with a common agenda — to take over the City of Ouray. Since three represents a controlling majority on the council they have been successful. The consequence of their takeover has been a coarsening of discourse in council meetings, disrespect towards citizens and other councilors, adversarial relationships with other organizations who represent our interests, and a corrosive atmosphere which has divided...
