Ouray County coffers have grown in the last couple of years due to increased property and sales tax revenue, and that’s triggering requests for more staffing and services from county elected officials and department heads.

In a Sept. 15 work session to discuss the preliminary 2022 budget, County Administrator Connie Hunt told county commissioners she estimated sales tax revenue for 2022 will increase by 44% over the amount budgeted for 2021 – from about $1.15 million to roughly $1.6 million.
