In response to Mr. Hall from Albuquerque: My letter addressed and tried to explain the frustration that some in the community feel over the issue of housing and its causes, which are multiple: the increasing number of second homes, empty much of the year and, therefore, declining rental opportunities; soaring property values and rents resulting from COVID flight and Ouray’s increasing visibility and popularity; and, now, the short-term rental issue.
