After five years working as a principal in Europe, Heidi Hanssen is happy to have landed at her new job – at the helm of Ridgway Elementary School.

It’s not the first time she’s lived in the Colorado mountains, and she’s glad to be back to a small-town, rural atmosphere.

On Monday, she’ll greet students on the first day of school and start getting to know her new community.
