Ridgway Town Council voted unanimously to approve new proposed landscape regulations Aug. 11, clearing the way for a public hearing and possible adoption next month.

The goal of the new ordinance is to make landscaping rules clearer and more flexible, to promote water conservation and make implementing the rules and enforcing them easier, said Katie Schwarz, a planner with Community Planning Strategies. The town is working with CPS until a new full-time planner is hired.
