Plenty of reasons for vacancy tax
Dear Editor:
In response to the Mudges from Mesa, Arizona, who were unclear as to why someone might suggest a “vacant house tax” in Ouray on second homeowners.
Vacant homes do not house young families with children who would go to our excellent public school and help with declining enrollment and decreasing funding.
They don’t house teachers, policemen, firemen, EMTs, restaurant and shop workers, city and county workers, young professionals or even our grown children.
