Ouray County has reported 17 new COVID-19 cases in the first 17 days of August, with more cases so far this month and in July than any month since February.

The county also reported a fifth COVID-positive death: a man in his 80s who tested positive for the virus on July 19 died on Aug. 5. He was one of seven fully vaccinated people who tested positive in July.
