Dear Editor:

It was suggested by an audience member at last week’s Ouray City Council meeting that second homeowners in Ouray be assessed an additional annual tax ie, a “vacant home tax”. It isn’t clear from the Plaindealer article what the purpose for this assessment is.

This individual may not be aware that part-time residents like my wife and I are paying a full year Ouray County real estate tax and a full year city water, sewer and trash collection bill. Does anyone in the community be...
