Ouray County commissioners plan to rescind the local emergency disaster declaration next week, more than sixteen months after it was adopted as the coronavirus pandemic began.

The declaration gave local officials broader power to enact public health and safety restrictions, including giving Public Health Director Tanner Kingery the authority to make decisions on his own. It also allowed for more flexible procurement rules for the county.
