Ouray needs to cap short-term rentals

A few attendees at the housing work session on Monday, June 7 made the point that if we didn’t allow short-term rentals in town, Ouray would become a town of second homes. Second homes have been a large part of the housing mix in Ouray since we moved here in 1975. What has changed is the price of housing as well as the available housing being snapped up by speculators buying homes with the intention of renting them as STRs.
